Impacting the Future
From Day One, NBGC has needed to raise funds to support our mission. A countless number of volunteers have given their time and talent in creating a variety of special events, from spaghetti dinners to golf tournaments. Members, their parents, alumni and staff all get involved in planning, preparing, and executing each fundraiser to make it the most successful event possible.
More than raising funds, these fundraisers engage the outside community in the mission and work of the NBGC. NBGC staff prioritize the “fun” in “fundraiser”- engaging members, friends, and the community in fun and enjoyable activities while raising funds to continue the work of the NBGC. This was epitomized in NBGC’s longest running fundraiser, the Family Fest. The Family fest was a carnival, complete with rides, food, drinks and all sorts of games. Dozens of people were involved year-round in making the event a success and dozens more volunteered.
During 2020, a very unique year indeed, the NBGC has hosted a virtual 5K Fun Run, a Virtual Leaders of the Future event, and a socially distanced Golf Outing, all with the help of leaders, alumni, and board members.
To keep us going during this difficult time, we once again are participating in #GivingTuesday, an international day of generosity, to raise funds for the club. We hope you’ll consider donating or creating a fundraiser to support the NBGC using the link below. Your support will help us impact future generations to come, just as the fundraisers listed here have helped to support the NBGC for the last 89 years.

The NBGC has benefited from Cubs Care and the Diamond Project. The Cubs and Bears have also been the inspiration for many “bashes” and “rooftop” events.
Leaders of the Future events celebrated the accomplishments of the successful young men and women
who are the heart and soul of the club.
They also celebrate the individuals and organizations who fund college scholarships.

The Family Fest was by far the NBGC’s longest running and most successful fund raiser. Rides, food, drink and all sorts of games were enjoyed by all. It took a lot of people to produce a carnival and there were a few that worked on and at the event for decades.
The NBGC added a music venue to the Family Fest…it was a huge success. The War Pigs the headliner for many years. Among the other bands were kids from the club, who had got their start at open mic nights at the clubhouse.
For a number of years the NBGC’s Haunted House one of the most popular Halloween spots in Chicago. It is remarkable that individuals who created the labyrinth were Fest committee members who started the construction as soon as the Fest ended.
The Dad’s Club Pancake Breakfast and the Mom’s Club Spaghetti Dinner were popular throughout the north side. The number of pancakes and pounds of spaghetti consumed were legendary.
The NBGC has been very successful at hosting sales, be it Christmas Trees, Christmas/Easter Hams, mattresses, rummage…you name it! For years it published the Community Directory, in which local businesses bought ads, to support their business, but more importantly to support the NBGC!
